Humanitarian Enrichment Forum
Recommitting to the Rules of War | June 27, 2024
The most important set of rules in international humanitarian law (IHL), the Geneva Conventions from 1949, seek to limit the effects of armed conflict by regulating the conduct of hostilities and protecting the victims of armed conflict. Despite their vital global relevance, they face significant challenges in today's world. Our third Humanitarian Enrichment Forum offered a glimpse of life in war through Waad al-Kateab’s courageous and powerful documentary FOR SAMA, as well as discussions about challenges and hopes for IHL with Dr. Anne Quintin (ICRC) and Dr. Hamza al-Kateab (Action For Sama Foundation).
Financing for Change | July 26, 2023
At a time where humanitarian assistance is increasingly needed, what happens when even leading humanitarian organizations cannot fund their vital work? Our second Humanitarian Enrichment event “Financing for Change” took place on July 26, 2023 and welcomed experts from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), Save the Children and many more for an evening of critical discussions with invaluable perspectives on financing the humanitarian world.
#RulesOfWar | March 27, 2022
Even wars have rules. What does that mean? We organized an intergenerational and interdisciplinary dialogue with inspiring speakers from Ukraine, the University of Zurich and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), to discover how the #RulesOfWar help people affected by armed conflict and other situations of violence and what they have to do with the mandate and mission of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
