Young Humanitarian Summit 2026
Held under the auspices of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), the Circle of Young Humanitarians (CYH) proudly presents the fourth Young Humanitarian Summit (YHS).
The humanitarian sector is facing significant disruption. Long-standing donor commitments are weakening, crises are becoming more complex, and humanitarian norms are increasingly challenged in politicised and fragmented environments. While International Humanitarian Law (IHL) remains a central pillar of humanitarian action, its implementation is under growing strain. This raises critical questions about sustainability, legitimacy, and the future role of humanitarian actors. We have to ask ourselves:
“What does humanitarianism even mean?”
The YHS 2026 explores The Future of Humanitarianism, creating a space for young people to reflect on how humanitarian action can remain relevant, principled, and impactful in the years to come. It moves beyond simply reaffirming principles to examine how humanitarian norms are applied in practice, and how the system functions in reality. It explores the interaction between humanitarian, political, economic, corporate and technological actors, as well as the growing importance of community-based, refugee-led, and youth-driven responses.
Through dialogue, reflection, and collaboration, the YHS invites participants to critically engage with current challenges while identifying opportunities for renewal and innovation. It aims to empower a new generation to contribute meaningfully to shaping a more inclusive, resilient, and future-oriented humanitarian system.
For the first time, the YHS will take place over three days in a hybrid format, bringing together participants both in Geneva, Switzerland and online. We invite young people of all professional backgrounds to connect, learn, and exchange perspectives with high-level speakers, diverse representatives, and inspiring thought leaders from the humanitarian world and beyond.
Join us for a weekend of thought-provoking discussions, impactful workshops, opportunities to connect, an interactive fair, a museum tour and much more!
Food and drinks are included for all in-person attendees.
